Revered for her work with Woodstock Sanctuary, Jenny Brown, Animal Rights Activist, is a fierce advocate for the protection of animals. Now, as a published author and vegan lecturer, Jenny is doing her part to fight back against factory farming through educational efforts.
Growing up in a conservative, Southern Baptist family in Kentucky, Jenny Brown’s relationship with animals was far from what it is today. Like the average Kentuckians, Jenny and her family didn’t give much thought to the animals on their plates at each mealtime. There was no connection made between the meat and eggs prepared in their kitchen to the family pets or curious critters living outside. Nor did Jenny consciously consider where milk or cheese came from — much less, what the process entailed…
But after reading a leaflet on factory farming, a seed was planted in Jenny Brown’s perspective on animals, and inevitably, plant-based living. That seed would soon blossom into her life’s greatest passions: animal rights activism and veganism.
Jenny Brown, Animal Rights Documentarian
A Career Change for a Cause
For more than ten years, Jenny Brown built the pillars of a career in film and television production. In tandem with her primary work, she eventually began to lend her talents, voluntarily, to animal rights advocacy initiatives. This required her to document her experiences with undercover video. In 2003, she took on an assignment that would forever change the course of her career — and her life. Traveling stockyard to stockyard, Jenny came face-to-face with the horrific reality of factory farming and the devastating impact the industry places on its animal victims. For this particular assignment, Jenny documented downed animals, or animals left too sick or injured to stand or walk, after suffering grave physical trauma.
The scenes Jenny Brown witnessed imprinted a haunting reality that continues to push her to fight for animal rights today. Now, decades since her introduction to the cause, Jenny is completely dedicated to shining a bright light on the realities of animal products, factory farming and animal abuse. Truly a voice for the voiceless, Jenny’s reputation has earned her the title of the vegan speaker in both the vegan and animal rights communities.
